Riyadh: 5th Edition of KWAR Karavali Parba a Grand Success

Riyadh, Dec 18: Karavali Welfare Association Riyadh (KWAR) celebrated its 5th annual event 'Karavali Parba 2012' recently in a grand manner.
The function commenced with the traditional lighting of the Deepa by the KWAR president Royston Prabhu, vice president Parvez Ali and general secretary Muzaffar Ali, former presidents Vijay Rai and Ramesh Shetty. All committee members assembled at the stage during the ceremony.
The main program started around 9 pm after dinner with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by Haneen and Muzammil. P M Bhaskar and Uday Rodrigues, the masters of ceremony invited the KWAR president; vice president; general secretary and the chief guest for the evening P M A Razak (president of CREDAI, Mangalore and chairman of Plama Promoters), Kevin Nazareth of Bhandary Builders and Shamsuddin Mayadi, partner of Horizon Properties to the stage.
Chief guest P M A Razak appreciated the charity work of KWAR and assured his full support to KWAR’s continued efforts on Mangalore-Riyadh direct flight. The main sponsors of Karavali Parba 2012; Bhandary Builders and Plama Promoters; co-sponsors; Kadesiah Medical Center, OTE, McDonald, Suhana Travels, Horizon Properties, Air India, Jet Airways , Air Arabia, City Max and other sponsors were felicitated and honored with bouquets by president Royston Prabhu and vice president Parvez Ali.
In his welcome address Parvez Ali appreciated all the sponsors for their participation and contribution towards this mega event. Royston Prabhu, president-KWAR spoke briefly thanking all the guests who arrived for the function for their continuous support towards KWAR and its activities. He also urged the Karvali community in Riyadh to join the organization to achieve greater success and work towards welfare of the community which is the primary objective of KWAR. Muzaffar Ali, general secretary highlighted and presented the achievements and contributions made by the association in the last one year. Chief guest distributed prizes to the winners of the Karavali Sports Day which was held on November 30.
The enthusiastic crowd was all geared up for the main function of the evening which was the cultural programme with a show of Karavali culture, traditions and way of life. Cultural secretary Eric D’sa along with his deputy Edmond Lewis lined up a variety of cultural events that included dances songs and skits. The cultural program started with the welcome song, “Kadalda Baritene” sung by the KWAR members. Bharatanatyam a classical Indian dance was performed by Megha Ravi.
The hard efforts put up by Karvali kids were seen in the dance numbers “Go..Go... Govinda – Oh My God” and “Naa Boardu Irada - Hudugru” that were thoroughly applauded by the crowd. Prithvi Gopal sang the “Titanic” theme song while Ria Bhasker accompanied on the keyboard. It was the very special traditional dance of costal Karnataka ‘Pili Vesha' – Tiger Dance’ that entertained the whole crowd and received thunderous applause.
The Brothers institute for Modern and Popular Arts’ presented four dance items and a music instrument play which entertained the crowd thoroughly, the highlight of being the “Flute and Guitar” playing the most popular Hindi song “Hawa Hawa E Hawa” to which the audience beat their feet. The other notable performance was the “Kuchipudi” dance wonderfully performed kept the art loving audience glued to the stage.
The Karavali teams’ mini plays “ Breaking News” – written and directed by Bhasker PM and Rajesh Kumar; ‘Kiri Kiri Kitta” – written and directed by Rajesh Kumar kept the Karavali spirit high and entertained the crowd with its “Tulu” flavour of comedy. Santa Clause’ arrival indicated that the Christmas is round the corner and all kids were seen chasing the “Santa” for their gifts.
Foot tapping numbers along with the live music band performed by Karawali members; Parvez Ali; Muzaffar Ali; P M Bhaskar; Edmond Lewis, Eric D’sa, Anitha D’sa and Eldrin Sequeira.
Mesmerizing cultural program were given by the following groups: Saudi Folk dance from the Murdeshwar Group; Konkani Dance (Konkani Amchi Mai Baas) by Konkan Ghar Riyadh; Dance by Barsa Group; Western dance by Mstr Rohan Bhaskar; Pai sisters, Raksha and Versha danced to “Radha Kaise Na Jale”; Prithvi Gopal performed to " Mayya Mayya" song; Dance by Ismail Kaup and his group.
The crowd enjoyed Yathiraj team’s “Special Masala Tea” and welcome drink “Saudi Champagne” with the royal presentation served to the entire guests by Kevin Nazareth’s Taj Hotel group. McDonalds team kept engaged the kids with the variety of activities including face painting, fancy tattoos, puzzles, lucky games and with many giveaways.
Indian Fraternity Forum, Riaydh (IFF) arranged their stall to spread awareness about their social welfare activities and their role in sorting out Indian workers plight in the Kingdom. Kadeshai Medical and Sahha Medical Centre’s jointly conducted Free Dental and Medical camp benefitted by the crowd.
KWAR ladies wing members actively participated in the event and helped the kids and families. KWAR reception team lead by Alfred Fernandes and Mahesh Hegde played a pivotal role at the gate by welcoming the guests and Sponsors while other team members including Victor Menezes, Jayanth Salian, and Rajiv Kamath supported them well by recording and monitoring the entry coupons. A separate membership counter was managed by Nelson D’ Souza to register the new members.
