Mangalore, Dec 22: The first Catholic 24 x 7 religious channel 'Divine Word' of Mangalore and Udupi dioceses was inaugurated at a glittering ceremony at Milagres Chuch grounds here on Saturday December 22. Christmas celebrations were held on the occasion.

Inaugurating the channel, Bishop of Mangalore Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza lauded the efforts of Stephen Mendes, chairman of Western Institute of Technology in taking the initiative to launch the unique channel.

Launching “Divine World” two days before Christmas was an excellent idea. Bishop of Mangalore Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza inaugurated the channel and I was listening to his speech, he delivered to the audience.

He said: “"In today's world mass media has a special role to play. It not only spreads news put also acts as means of transforming people's lives. Let good news reach all people,"

We shall not forget which tremendous impact newspapers like The Hindu or The Statesman have on readers and decision makers in India.
Top quality newspapers, especially the English media in India influence customs, values and perceptions in a special way in a globalised environment.

It is absolutely necessary for the Church to use the newest technology to spread its message, the message of joy and peace.

“Divine World” should be used to spread love and peace. The website of “Divine World” offers believers and people who look for a meaning of life so much.
This morning I was browsing the website and was astonished at the variety of spiritual opportunities this site offers.

It gives users so much to strengthen one´s faith and perhaps to share a lot with other users in the near future.

    Best regards
