Dubai: Yakshakalavrunda to Present Maiden Badagutittu Performance

Dubai, Dec 23: Yakshakalavrunda Dubai, for the first time ever will present Badagutittu Yakshagana show for all Kannadigas and Indian art lovers in the UAE.

The Yakshagana show 'Madhura Mahindra' will be performed by the artistes of Sri Purnachandra Yakshakala Prathistana, Kondadakuli, Kumbashi (Kundapur) and guest artistes on February 1, 2013 at Sheikh Rashid auditorium, Bur Dubai between 5 and 10 pm.

The proceeds of the show will be used for a noble cause in helping the needy artistes in this field, and for various other charity works back home.

Yakshagana, a famous traditional theatre art form popular in coastal and Malnad areas in particular and whole of Karnataka in general, is a unique art form that encompasses glittering and eye catching rich costumes, music, dance, acting and extemporary speech during the performance. The event aims at bringing this unique and famous art form to the people of Karnataka who have been living in UAE.

Tickets are priced at Dhs 25, Dhs 50 and Dhs 100.

    I am surprised to learn that badagu tittu yakshagana troup has never visited Dubai so far and it is the first time this troupe will be visiting!! Dubai people have been missing this wonderful style for all these years.

    In Muscat not only badagu tittu yakshagana troupe from India has performed, but we the members of Tulu Koota and Spandana have presented several badagutittu yakshagana plays during the past 30 years.

    Anyway, better late than never, thanks to Fortune Group of Hotels. I do agree that badagu tittu is unique in its own way and is a complete theatrical art form. It is also said that the modern day bharat natya is evolved originally from yakshagana dance.

    I wish all the UAE people a great time and congratulate and thank Mr. Praveen Shetty for promoting coastal Karnataka art & culture.

    Its an wonderful news,Badagutittu yakshagana in Dubai that too with Kondadakuli and Nilkodu to be present.I am a die hard fan of Kondadakuli and eagerly waiting to see him in Dubai.Wishing all the best to the organizers who are holding this event for a noble cause of helping needy yakshagana artists and lets support them whole-heartedly.Thanks once again.

    The badaguthittu (Northern) verson differs from Thenkuthittu (Southern). Raaga.com used to present many Yakshagana Bayalata (aata).

    In Konkni we name the directions as Thenka(north)Bhadga(south), Phadla(west) Mudla(east).

    If you want to enjoy Yakshagana you must see performance by the Badagutittu group.The song, dance,and the style of badagutittu is expetional. Good see that they reached Dubai.
