Udupi, Jan 17: Railway Yatri Sangha will organize 'Rail Roko' on January 22  demanding to have a stop for the train No. 22149 Poona-Panvel-Ernakulam at Udupi station.

Speaking to the media , MLA Ragupathi Bhat said the 'Rail Roko' will be organized from 2 pm to 6 pm on January 22.

“We do not wish to conduct the protest; we will wait till morning for the department to take necessary action to stop the train at Udupi. Requesting this, we have given notice to the department several times through Railway Yatri Sangha”, the MLA said.

“If we stop the train for more than 20 minutes the matter will directly go to the Railway minister” he added.

The MLA also mentioned that the proposed 'Rail Roko' will be withdrawn if Railway Minister decides to consider the request and permits at least one stop to No. 22149 Poona-Panvel-Ernakulam train at Udupi railway station.

"There is a request made to consider giving one halts each to No. 12483 Kochuveli-Amritsar and No.12287 Kochuveli-Dehradun trains also", he said.

According to the MLA, there are thousands of families from Udupi living in Pune, and all are facing a problem to go to Mangalore and then travel to Udupi. Considering this, the Sangha has planned conduct Rail Roko.

“This is not a party tactic, it is an act for our friends and relatives who live far from us”, he stressed.
