Mangalore, Jan 18: "Father Muller Medical College in association with Indian Society of Electrocardiology is conducting an ECG learning course on January 19 and January 20", said Dr Prabhakar, the organizing chairman of the event.
It is a two day programme conducted by eminent cardiologists from Mumbai, Dr S B Guptha, Dr Kethan Mehta, and Dr Ashih Nabar.
Heart diseases are on the rise in India during the last decade especially heart attack. ECG is an essential tool for the diagnosis of chest pain and various common cardiac conditions, especially ischemic heart disease.
Basic ECG reading has become a must for the medical professionals especially general practitioners, physicians, pediatricians, Anaesthetists , post graduates, interns, medical students and nurses working in critical areas.
It is a unique programme and Father Muller medical college is the second organization in Karnataka to host such a programme. Usually this kind of course is conducted in western countries with a very high course fee. But this ECG learning course is offered here in Mangalore with a nominal course fee and around 300 delegates from South India are expected to take part in it.
"The programme will be inaugurated by Dr A V Shetty, the senior cardiologist of Mangalore. Dr S B Guptha, president, Indian Society of Electrocardiology will be the chief guest, Fr Patrick Rodrigues, director will be presiding over the programme", said, Dr Prabhakar.
Fr Denis D’Sa, administrator, FMMC and Dr N Hegde, organizing vice chairman were present.
