Mangalore: Car on way to Pune catches fire at Kottara

Mangalore, Jan 22: Two persons had a narrow escape after their car caught fire at Kottara here on Monday January 21.

The Skoda Octavia car with Maharashtra registeration, was being driven by Munaf Sheikh from Kasargod to Pune.

The fire sparked off in the engine of the car even as the car was running. Sources said that the fire was noticed when Munaf got out from the car to check the headlights which switched off all of a sudden.

Munaf called the fire brigade and also sought police help. The fire was put off soon.

The cause for the sudden fire is yet to be determined.

Though no injury was reported, a part of the car was charred in the fire.
