Speaking after the inauguration, Dr Ramnarayan said, "a conference such as this gives an opportunity to learn and let others know what we are doing. Library plays a very important role in the overall development as it connects with the inside knowledge".

"A library is not only a shrine for books, but a delivery room of ideas where history and science meets. Google gives a numeric answers for our questions, but its only a librarian who can give the right and a accurate answer. Modern techiniques and inventions can give a answer at a touch of a button, but the problem that arises is from where to start the process, hence if the start is wrong, the answer or output will also be wrong".

"The timeless and timely service has to be rendered by the librarian. Books alone do not make a library, but it is the librarian who makes it. Information management system is better than information mastery system, hence is preferable to indulge in information management system", he added.

In his presidential address, Fr Patrick said that the whole of the scenario of a librarian has changed with the passing of time. Modern ideas and interventions have lead way to these drastic changes. New equipments and equipments have made it develop.

Librarian needs to recognize the needs of the doctor and serve him and keep him informed on the availability of the books or journals that he has been looking for, hence be proactive in the works that a librarian does. Communication is a must with the librarians, that will also help in bringing good and equal collaboration between the librarians, doctors and researchers, at all times.

He further urged the libraraians to set up well maintained books and to see that they are preserved for a longer duration, so as to prevent theft, misplace etc.
