Udupi: District administration observes voters day

Udupi, Jan 26: “It is the duty of every voter to select the right candidate. The voter should know the educational qualification and back ground of the individual and choose the eligible candidate. Youth need motivation to vote. They need to know the importance of voting in elections”, said professor Prakash Kanive after inaugurating the Voters Day celebration organized by district administration at Vaikunta Baliga Law College here on Friday January 25.

 “On January 16, the final voters list had been published. 38,341 new voters registered; there are 8,54,068 voters in the district. During the previous Vidhana Sabha election, 60% of the people voted among whom 20% were youths. In Udupi district there are 99.68% voters with photo identity card”, said Udupi additional DC Kumar.

ZP CEO Prakash Sharma, SP Borallingaiha, Thashildar Abhijin, M Junjanna, Madukar, food department assistant director Arun Kumar Sangavi were present on the occasion.
