Dubai, Jan 31: Billavas Dubai & Northern Emirates (BDNE), a premier association of Billavas in Dubai as a part of their ongoing activities, recently arranged a picnic at Zabeel Park, here.

The daylong annual picnic 2013 was attended by BDNE working committee members with their family and relatives along with Billava Community members and their families residing in UAE.

BDNE president Jithendra Suvarna with his wife Pramila Suvarna inaugurated the annual picnic by releasing the colourful balloons in the air.

Special attraction of the day was a stall of homemade breakfast dishes like Pundi with chicken curry, Shemige with coconut milk, Gendadha Adya, Neer dosa, Masala Tea, fruits, chips and juices which were served to the crowd who enjoyed every bit of it.  This arrangement was specially done by Soumya, Satish Ullal and their team.

BDNE working committee members Ganesh Kotian, Sudhakar Poojary and Jayashree Sudhakar distributed the colourful wrist bands to the crowd and segregated them into four teams named as Mangalore, Mumbai, Udupi and Karkala.  Throughout the day all the games were played with team scores.

Fun games were also arranged for children and there were variety of games for couples, men, bachelors and ladies efficiently conducted by Shodhan Prasad, Nagaraj Amin, Sathish Ullal, Vasanth Thumbe, Deepa Jagannath and team.  It was nice to see the fun games like ball in the bucket, emotions game, passing the ring, dodge ball, Housie etc played with full sporty spirit.

Out of the four teams played, Mangalore Team scored the maximum points in the fun games and emerged as winner of the day.

Afternoon delicious lunch with Mangalorean Chicken Sukka, vegetable curry, Payasa were served to the whole crowd under Jagannath Bellare’s supervision.

Throughout the year Billawas Dubai & Northern Emirates conduct programmes like blood donation campaign, education scholarship distribution for the needy students back home in India, Shree Narayana Guru Pooja, sports meet, annual get-together etc.

At the end of the picnic BDNE president Jithendra Suvarna addressed the crowd and explained them about the charity works done by Billavas Dubai & NE for the past 15 years.  He requested all the members to continue supporting for the noble cause in future.

Interestingly many new members joined the picnic this year and it was nice to see all of them introducing themselves to the crowd and assuring their attendance for the rest of the programmes of Billavas Dubai & NE in the near future.
