Chennai, Feb 1 (IANS): Ford India, the Indian subsidiary of US auto major Ford Motor Company, closed last month with total sales of 7,115 units which was lower as compared to the numbers logged by the company during January 2012.
In a statement, the company said it sold 6,062 units last month in the domestic market as against 9,137 units sold in January 2012.
Ford India shipped out 1,053 units during the period under review as against 1,652 units exported in January 2012.
"Despite a tough business environment with hike in fuel prices and ongoing high interest rates, consumer interest in Ford vehicles continues to hold steady. Our commitment and long term expansion strategy for India continue to progress according to our plan," said Vinay Piparsania, executive director, marketing, sales and service.
