Mumbai, Feb 6: Vasai Konkani Welfare Association recently organized the first show of Melwyn Peris Nite at Sai Nagar Ground.
The mayor of Vasai Virar Muncipal Corporation (VVMC), honorable Narayan Mankar was the chief guest. He promised his full support of Konkani speaking people of Vasai.
President Ancy DSouza Paladka welcomed the gathering. Joint secretary Vincent D'Mello anchored the stage programme.
Three corporators of Vasai, dramatist Francis Fernandes Cascia, singer Henry D'Souza, secretary Reginald Santhmayar, treasurer Aveline Pinto, coordinator John D'Souza and past president Stephen Fernandes were also present on the dais.
Melwyn Peris was honoured with shawl, fruits and flowers. Vice presidents Vincent Fernandes, Blanch Alvares, joint treasurer Antony Lewis, committee members Richard Lewis, Henry Menezes, Hilda D'Souza, Albert DCosta, Clement Noronha, Simon Tauro, Della Antonios were also present.
The main anchor of the show Clement Lobo kept the audience anxiously waiting for an awesome performance ahead.
Melwyn Peris and his entire troupe entered the crowd with a song "Dabazo". This was followed by the love song "Sang Kenna Yetai" by young singer Robin Sequeira. Zena Pereira presented "Kallzachi Shir Tuttlea", a song with a feeling of heart bursting. Dadd Badd Nach (Anita D'Souza and Melwyn Peris), Rape (Melwyn Peris and group), Lhanponna (Nester Peris), Chondrem Udela Mollbar (Zena Pereira and Robin Sequiera), Sobhit Choli (Melwyn Peris, Jerry Rasquinha and Joseph Pinto), Maim Bab (Doreen Pinto), Busy Busy (Melwyn Peris), Dolle (Anita D'Souza, Melwyn Peris and Robin Sequeira), Hai Katta Katta (Doreen Pinto,Charles D'Cunha), Din Tana na (Zena Pereira, Robin Sequeira), Oh My Love (Nester Peris), Shiriyani Kombi (Anita D'Souza, Melwyn Peris), Bari Borim Cheddvam (Robin Sequeira), Ho Soro Koincho (Melwyn Peris, Anita D'Souza) and the entire troupe ended the show with the group song Konknni Kalakaram
Jerald Rasquinha and Joseph Pinto came on the stage with their nick names Jerry Ani Zuze (JeZu) with their innovative jokes and hilarious skits and kept the crowd in a jovial mood.
"Awesome Chaotix" dance group lead by Aelrid Crasta and his dancers Aston Fernandes, Gladson D'Souza, Jashma Cordeiro, Melisha Cordeiro, Shailene Aranha, Savita Aranha and Josuita D'Souza gave an exciting dance performance.
Live music was performed under the leadership of music director, Roshn D'Souza (lead guitar), Steven Frank (keyboard), Tio Alvares (trumpet), Melwyn Fernandes (drums) and Jerome Coelho (bass guitar).
The Melwyn Peris show was brought to Mumbai by the new organization ‘Konknni Kalamanch’.
Clement Lobo, president, Ancy D'Souza Paladka, secretary, Harry Sequeira, treasurer and Charles D'Cunha, coordinator of Konkanni Kala Manch were also present.
The first show was held at Vasai by Vasai Konkani Welfare Association on January 25, followed by Kalina (January 26), Thane (January 27 morning), Pallotti, Marol (January 27 evening).
The final show was held at Mira Road.
Large number of people witnessed all the five shows.
