Mumbai, Feb 9: ‘Okkaligara Mahostava’ was held by the Okkaligara Sangha Maharashtra recently, in Matunga West at Dr M Vishweshwarayya Convention Hall.

Narayana Gowda, president, Okkaligara Sangha, presided. Jaya C Suvarna, honorary president, Billava Association, Mumbai, Ikala Harish Shetty, vice-president, World Billava Association, Cancer AIDS foundation member Raj Tendulkar, and hotelier Jwarappa B Gowda, were present as chief guests.

Rajabode Gowda, Jwarappa Gowda, Rangappa Gowda, Putta Swamy Gowda, Narayana Gowda, and their respective spouses were felicitated on the occasion.

“Today I feel immense pleasure to say that Okkaligara Sangha has grown and worked for the betterment of the Okkaliga Samaj in Maharashtra. The members of the association take part in pro-social activities. The support of other community members is necessary to strengthen this organization in the metro,” said Narayana Gowda.

“The Okkaliga community has many leaders and the selfless contribution of Narayana Gowda has strengthened this organization,” said Suvarna.

Shetty said that the Okkaliga community gave the nation a Prime Minister in the form of Deve Gowda which is a matter of pride. “Narayana Gowda introduced the Okkaliga community to Mumbai, and under his leadership the organization is performing well. If Narayana Gowda is elected and sent to Karnataka Vidhana Sabha he will do more work for his community,” he added.

The women organized a ‘Haldi Kumkum’ and several cultural programmes were also held on this occasion. Rangappa Gowda welcomed. Tribute was offered to Jagadhguru Balaganghadarnatha Swami. Padmanabha Sasihithlu and Amrutha A Shetty compered the programme.
