Kuwait: SWAK celebrates annual feast

Kuwait, Feb 9: Shirva Welfare Association Kuwait (SWAK) under the presidentship of Clifford D’Souza celebrated its Patron feast (Vodlen Fest) at the Indian Community Girls School Auditorium – Salmiya – Kuwait on Friday February 8.

The programme commenced with Deepak Andrade, MC of the day, welcoming the members and the guests, followed by a prayer by Urban D'Souza. Committee members sung welcome song for which lyrics were written by Lancy Rodrigues and music was provided by music maestro Adrian Gomes. President of SWAK – Clifford D’Souza officially welcomed the entire guest and thanked all the members for their support. Secretary Gretta D’Souza read out the annual report highlighting the achievements of SWAK.

During the felicitation session, Fr Noel and Archie Menezes were the chief guest who also delivered feast message. The entire committee member along with Fr Noel and Archie Menezes cut the cake to symbolically start the feast. Jaison Lasrado received honor and memento on behalf of Gulf Voice of Mangalore winner Orson D’Souza for his achievement in winning the singing title in Gulf level competition.

Outstanding and merit students were honored by president Clifford D’Souza, Urban D’Souza, Fr Noel and Archie Menezes. The sponsors, outstanding members and media personnel were also honored during the occasion for their contribution towards SWAK. A memento was presented to Lancy Rodrigues for his support to SWAK by president.

Audience enjoyed entertainment programme by SWAK members and their kids. Foot tapping dances were performed by Alisha Gomes, Alesha Serrao, Melita D'Silva, Melrick Prith D'Souza, Ralph Serrao, Sheldon D'Souza, Freya D'Souza, Sweeny Mathias, Adley Mathias, Aarel Noronoha, Carol D'Souza, Carlita D'Souza, Maclean Menezes, Astrel Menezes, Shabitha, Shanthi, Lavina, Regina, Silvia, Gladys, Clara, Renny, Avril Mathias, Ines Martis, Melina Serraoand Mecleena Serrao. Rib tickling jokes were enacted by Sweeney Mathias, Shaun Aranha, Anil Menexes, Renny, Alexander and Urban. Ashley sung Hindi song "Aao Milo Chalo" from film ‘Jab We Met’ for which music was provided by Ashwin (Key board), Alston (Guitar) and Alister(drums).

Different games were conducted to all the age groups. A lot of spot prizes were given ib between and during dance sessions. Lucky dip draw and Housie were conducted to keep the excitement alive. Lucky member and highest lucky dip seller were honored with prizes. Votes of thanks were delivered by Vice president Alwyn D'souza. Fr Noel and kids offered grace before meal.

The well conducted programme came to an end with masala dance session by DJ Kiran and grand buffet dinner by Royal Plaza Catering. The programme was well compered by Kuwait’s popular budding Konkani MC Deepak Andrade and appreciated by everyone.
