New-born girl strangled, mother arrested

Beed (Mah), Feb 10 (PTI): A three-day-old baby girl was allegedly strangled by her mother with the help of her lover in Dharur tehsil of Beed district, Maharashtra.

Ashabai Bansode (24) and her friend/lover Rajaram Dhotre (45) have been arrested by the police.

According to the police, Ashabai, a divorcee, had a relationship with Dhotre. She gave birth to a baby girl on February 4 at Swami Ramanand Teerth Hospital at Ambejogai.

Two days later, she killed the child at Dharur with Dhotre's help and buried her, police said.
On receiving a tip-off, a team led by Police Inspector Angad Sudke discovered the body and arrested Ashabai and Rajaram yesterday. The local court has remanded them in police custody till February 13.

    You are right Manorama. Only Lydia that its not gender killing. If she doesn't need kid then she would have taken action before. You are true we will find such women & her supporter still roaming everywhere.

    I don't think this is a gender based killing. You may have noted that she is a divorcee. The social stigma of having a child (irrespective of gender) while not married may have caused them to do this. However, why did they not opt for suitable precautions prior to conceiving ? Killing is not a method to be in social respect ? Forget prior mistakes - they could have voluntarily given the child for adoption? They are now seen as murderers leave alone with any respect !

    WHAT EVERY ASHABAI HAS DONE IS WRONG IF SHE DOES NOT NEEDED THE CHILD WHY BROUGHT THE BABY TO THIS WORLD ,I THINK SHE NEEDED ABABY BOY.BOTH OF THEM MUST BE PUNISHED IN SUCH A WAY,OTHER WOMEN WILL THINK TEN TIMES BEFORE DOING ANY CRIME LIKE THIS.
