Doha, Feb 19: Bunts Qatar held its maiden and much-awaited sports and recreation day on Friday February 15, which was enjoyed thoroughly by more than 150 members who gathered with fun and thrill. The venue “New Family Wakrah Beach” added the flavor and excitement to the action packed sporting activities.
Bunts Qatar sports secretary Uday Shetty in his opening remark presented an overview of the event. president of the forum Ravi Shetty welcomed the gathering. As a mark of respect to the departed souls of Bunts Qatar general secretary Navaneeth Shetty’s brother and mother of Bunts Qatar member Ravi Kumar Rai, condolence was offered by observing a minute's silence.
The event kicked off at 8.30 am with the launch and hoisting of Bunts Qatar Flag by the Ravi Shetty along with vice-president Prakash Ajila, sports secretary Uday Shetty, Treasurer Dhananjay Shetty, ladies coordinator Vijaya N Shetty, cultural secretary Akshatha A Hegde, Forum’s senior most member Jaya Shetty, Tulu Koota Qatar president Seetaram Shetty, Tulu Koota Qatar past president Ramchandra Shetty, Visiting guest Sarvani Shetty and Karnataka Sangha general secretary Deepak Shetty .
Members were divided into four groups of different colors with captain and vice-captain designated to each group as follows.
1) Doha Warriors-Green | captain :Gopinath Shetty, vice-captain: Shrinidhi
2) Measeed Magnets- Blue | captain: Nithin Shetty, vice-captain: Pavana
3) Dukhan Devils- Red | captain: Prakash Shetty (QNCC), vice-captain: Chandrakala.
4) Khor Knights- Yellow | captain; Uday Kumar, vice-captain: Shilpa
As many as 18 games were conducted for all age groups such as foot cricket, foot ball, volley ball, lagori, tug of war and so on. Event was also a opportune moment for many children to showcase their exceptional talents in the sports. Though the games were played in a friendly and funfilled ambience, a few games had a nail-biting and thrilling finishes which were well supported and cheered by their respective team members. Points were allotted to all the games. All the four teams played and competed well to come out victorious in various categories.
Finally, the team that emerged victorious and lifted the winning rolling trophy was the Blue Team - Mesaaed Magnets and the runners-up rolling trophy was bagged by Yellow Team - Khor Warriors. Bunts Qatar treasurer Dhananjay Shetty came up with a surprise and distributed special return gifts to tiny tots and rest of the children.
Breakfast, refreshing beverages and lunch were also served at the venue.
Concluding the event, sports secretary proposed the vote of thanks and expressed his sincere gratitude to all those who have contributed for the grand success of our first ever sports meet. Adding a final note to the event president Ravi Shetty applauded sports secretary Uday Shetty, for his hard work, meticulous planning in organizing such a wonderful and successful event, who was well supported by his better half Chaitali Shetty, all the committee members specially the treasurer Dhananjay Shetty. Volunteers viz; Chandrashekar Shetty and ATS team, Dhananjay Rai, Dinesh Gowda, Harish Shetty, Dr Vishwanath Shetty, Deepak Shetty, Roopesh Shetty, Akshaya Shetty and many more contributed for the success of the event.
