Udupi: Cong announces poll candidates for 28 wards

Udupi, Feb 21: Udupi block Congress on Thursday February 21 announced its primary list of nominees for the upcoming Municipal Council (CMC) poll, which is scheduled for March 7.

Out of 35 wards, nominees for 28 were declared at a press meet held here on Thursday.

They are Kola - Prashanth Amin, Kodavoor - Meenakshi Madhava Bannanje, Moodubettu - Hormis Narohna, Kodankoor - Janaki Ganapathy Shettigar, Nittur - Tara Narayana Poojari, Subrahmanya Nagar - Yuvraj, Gopalpura - Chandrakanth Nayak, Karamballi - Celine Karkada, Mooduperampalli – Prashanth Bhat, Saralebettu - Jyothi Naik, Settibettu - Prasad Rai, Parkala – Usha Nayak, Ishwar Nagar – Sathish Salian, Manipal - Barath Kumar, Indralli – Vijaya Manchi, Indira Nagar – Hemlatha, Badagubettu - Vijaya Poojari, Chitpadi - Chandra Mohan, Kastoorba Nagar – Shantharam Salvankar, Kunjibettu - Sasiraj Kundar, Kadiyalli - Geetha D Shet, Gundibailu - R K Ramesh Poojari, Bannanje – Praveen Shetty, Ollakkadu - Vidhya Prakash, Kinnimulki – Amrutha Krishnamoorthi Acharya, Ajjarkad - Hassan Saheb, Shiribidu - Durgadas Shetty, Ambalpady – Sujatha Shetty.

President of the Udupi block Congress committee Pramod Madhwaraj speaking to the media said that the remaining 7 nominees will be declared soon.

"The election motto for Congress will be 'Corruption-less government'," he added.

"Congress is expecting to win more than 20 seats. We are prepared well and ready for the elections," he said.

B Narasimha Moorthi, chief secretary, Divakar Kundar, Udupi zilla panchayat member, Sadashiva Kotian, Kushal Shetty, block Congress vice-president and K Krishnamoorthi Acharya were present.

    Look who is talking "Corruption less government". I feel people should vote for the candidate and not for the party. Time people really think while exercising their vote.

    Dear Madhvaraj,
    You have to recoin the slogan.."corruption-less government" to "Corruption free government"
    Corruption less government means ..there is corruption but 'less'...Why cant we target corruption free government at least in block level.Even it fails to some extent no problem.
    Hope you will take note of my suggestion...if yes,pl respond in these column.Thanks...
