Kuwait: Qawwali magic at IYS 'Jhoom Barabar Jhoom'

Kuwait, Feb 24: After the success of “Dhoom Machale" with the dance India dance fame choreographer Terence Lewis, and ‘Singing Superstar’ a singing competition, Indian Youth Society-Kuwait presented "Jhoom Barabar Jhoom" featuring world famous Ghazal and Qawwali singer Sabri Brothers and his team on Friday February 22 at Kuwait Medical Association Auditorium, Jabriya Kuwait.

The program started with national anthems of Kuwait and India followed by formal welcome by president Shabbir Qamar. Subhasish Bhattacharya entertained the audience by Hindi hits ‘Dil mein hai tum’ and ‘Mai Deewana’. Shabbir also presented the audio CD of Subashish ‘Ek Koshish’ which was produced in aid of Chittaranjan National Cancer institute in India and contributed aid from IYS too.

Indian Ambassador to Kuwait Satish C Mehta along with Bangladesh ambassador to Kuwait Syed Shahed Reza, Nepal Ambassador to Kuwait Madhuban Prasad, Bhutanese Ambassador to Kuwait Dasho Tashi Phuntsog, Pakistan ambassador to Kuwait Iftekhar Aziz, Srilankan Ambassador to Kuwait CAHM Wijeratne released the souvenir to mark the event. Satish C Mehta spoke few words about IYS and their events.

Finally the waiting of the audience was over with grand entry of ‘Sabri Brothers’ Aftab Sabri and Hashim Sabri along with their musician team. Audience started to scream with joy when their musical warm up started with typical Qawali style. ‘Sabri Brothers’ along with the members of the group, who performed for the first time in Kuwait mesmerized the audience with a mix of Sufi and Bollywood music. Good lyrics and creating the mood with their unique style of singing Qawali made audience to experience the depth of it.

Indian Ambassador to Kuwait Satish C Mehta presented Momento to Sabri Brothers and other deserving members of Indian Youth Society. During the break, Shakier Shaikh entertained the audience with hit Hindi numbers from movies Fanaa and 3 idiots.

Abdullah Abbasi from Radio Kuwait Urdu service presented memento to Sabri brothers and Shabbir Qamar on behalf of Radio Kuwait. He also shared some Shayaries along with Shabri Brothers. During the second half Sabri brothers sang Ghazal and Qawwalis on public demand. Even though the program was scheduled to finish at 10 pm, it went on till 12.30 am due to the never ending public demand.

The Indian Youth Society was established by the initiative of a bunch of young Indians with the purpose of creating a youth revolution. The society has been successful in amassing wide popularity amongst the youth of Kuwait and in spreading the Indian Culture amongst the people of Kuwait.
