Kundapur, Feb 25: Bishop of Udupi Diocese Gerald Isaac Lobo blessed the foundation stone for the construction of a new presbytery here on Sunday Feruary 24.

After the celebration of the holy mass, blessing ceremony of the foundation stone was conducted.

Bishop appealed to the people of Basrur to grow spiritually.

“Prayer is very important in one’s life. Prayer is nothing but a communication with God. Prayer will lead us to depend upon God”.
He added saying, “as Catholics in Lent Season we should make the best use of these days”.

The present presbytery (Priests residence) was built in 1966. Since then the house has been repaired several times by the subsequent parish priests. Now this house has completed 46 years.

Cracks have developed on the building making it unsafe for living. The Parish Council has unanimously voted in favour of constructing a new presbytery and suggested to start the work immediately. Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza the Bishop of Mangalore Diocese has approved the project. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 50 lakhs.

Fr Vishal Lobo , Parish Priest of Basrur, Fr Henry Mascarenhas, Alfred Coth, Vice president of Parish Council Basur, Jacintha Mendonsa, Secretary Parish Council Basrur were present.
