Mangalore: AJ Institutions and MCF to host free health camps on March 3

Mangalore, Feb 27: AJ Institute of Medical Sciences (AJIMS), AJ Institute of Dental Science (AJIDS) and MCF Ltd. will be jointly hosting free health check-up camp on March 3 at Government Primary School, Marakada, Kunjathbail, Mangalore.

A wide range of services will be provided at the camp site along with follow up treatment at the medical college hospital. This is a rare opportunity for the children and women belonging to underprivileged sections of society to avail highly specialized care under highly qualified doctors.

Mother and Child Health

Women’s health represents the overall health of the society. Childhood being the initial phase of life is crucial in determining lifelong health. Hence ‘Mother & Child’ concept of healthcare has come in for focus of attention in the modern times. The health camps will attend to all women (besides mothers) as well as children.

Women’s camp will be run by a dedicated team of women doctors with particular focus on pregnancy related and gynecological problems.  Strict attention will be given to ensure protection of privacy and dignity of women who need assessment.

Children’s section will be attended by the hospital’s pediatric team who are well versed in all aspects of pediatric care.

Services Provided:

Free check-up of maternity, gynecology and pediatric problems, free consultation and medication; and free ultra sound scanning will be done at the camp site.

Patients requiring advanced treatment including surgery will be transferred at AJIMS free of cost. Any ICU / ward admission, laboratory tests and surgeries required will also be provided be free-of-cost. Dedicated MSWs will provide personalized service to the patients during this hospital treatment.

Patients covered by Arogya Bhagya, Yashaswini, Sampoorna Suraksha and other government schemes may avail treatment at the hospital. For children, cough clinics will be held on first and third Saturday of every month. Free consultation and medicine at minimum charges will be available.


Where charges are applicable:

•Nominal charges may apply on some consumable items
•Expensive investigations such as CT Scan, MRI will be charged at reduced rates
•These charges may be waived for deserving cases

Dental Camp

Fully equipped mobile dental vans with two dental chairs will be deployed for the camp. The patients will be screened and treated for any oral health problems. Services provided include professional cleaning of teeth, restorations and extractions. For advanced treatments the patients will be referred to the hospital, where the treatments are done free of cost.

MCF and Corporate Social Responsibility

Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilizers Limited (MCF) is a part of UB group and is located at Panambur opposite to New Mangalore Port. MCF is the only manufacturer of chemical fertilizers in Karnataka and the products are supplied to the farmers of Karnataka and other Southern states. It is an ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certified company.

In addition to manufacturing and supplying fertilizers to the farmers, MCF is involved in various social responsibility activities especially in the field of education and health. The important CSR activities are Mangala Akshara Mitra and Project Eye-Care. In Mangala Akshara Mitra programme, schools are selected mainly in the rural areas and the basic requirements like desks, table, black board, school bags, lunch plates etc are provided for the children. In project eye care, every year 2-3 villages are selected and free eye check-up camps are conducted there; free spectacles are distributed and free cataract surgeries are conducted for the needy. In addition to this, various medical and dental camps are conducted every year in and around Mangalore in association with institutions like A J Institute of Medical Sciences and KMC.

AJ Institutions and Community Health

Since inception AJ Institutions have actively conducting outreach programmes as part of their community healthcare initiative. The chairman AJ Shetty, a well known philanthropist too has been actively supporting our social initiative.
