Kasargod, Mar 8: Kasargod police have decided to install secret cameras in prominent places in the district to keep an eye on and prevent criminal activities and unpleasant incidents. The surveillance cameras will be installed from Kanhangad to Kasargod.

The cameras are sophisticated and work well even in darkness. More than ten screens will be fixed in the control room. All activities in the district can be monitored through these images. A 24-hour working police team has also been named for this purpose.

Due to an increase in criminal cases in district, the police have come up with the idea of these secret cameras. Cameras will directly pass the information to control room and this will be helpful in sending immediate assistance and arresting the culprits involved in illegal activities.

The process of installing the cameras will be started within one month and the work will be completed within two months. An amount of Rs 75 lac will be spent on this project. The police plan to install such cameras in textile and jewellery shops also. The government has permitted sanction of Rs 10 lac from MLA fund of M N Nellikunnu and P B Abdul Razaq for the purpose.
