Udupi: Three students beaten up for talking to girl in bus

Inchara Udupi
Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi

Udupi, Mar 13: Three young men who were talking to a girl from another community in a bus were allegedly assaulted by a group of people belonging to a certain community at Kaup here on Wednesday March 13 evening.

Following the incident, members of various Hindu organizations condemned the assault and gheraoed Kaup police station.

It is said that two youths, identified as Srinath (23) and Rajesh (24) residents of Katipalla, Mangalore, along with another youth were beaten up by the group. The youths, students of a college in Mangalore, were returning to Mangalore from Manipal by bus when the incident took place.

During the bus journey, the youths were reportedly talking to a girl from another community. Noticing this, a youth who was in the same bus informed members of the local community outfits.

It is said that when the bus reached Kaup, the members of the outfits got into the bus and took the three youths to task. An argument broke out between the two groups. Meanwhile, two more people came by bike and stopped the bus when it reached Shanti Niketan Educational Institute, and forced the three persons out of the bus and assaulted them, said eyewitnesses.

However, sources said that as the victims had no clear information about the assaulters, they were unable to file a proper complaint with the police.

Hindu organizations gherao police station

Soon after the incident, members of local Hindu organizations came in support of the victims and gheraoed Kaup police station. They demanded immediate arrest of the culprits and threatened to intensify their protest if action was not taken promptly. They also shouted slogans against the police.

Kaup police have registered a case and further investigations are on.

Now a days these incidents are happening repeatedly. One thing we should remember, we human being s live for max 70 yrs.Hating any religion is wrong. Have patience and solve the prob with understanding and peace. also try to help others not by religion but in humanitarian ground. Like doctor, carpetor, mason, painter, fitter, conductor give service to earn his lively hood. Religion is not considered in their work. We are not animals, we could understand and think better. Mr. Sampath, I partially agree with your view. If the majority people would have earlier protested moral policing by BD and VHP or any senas, things could have been different as of now. If BD dont represent whole hindus, why other hindus question them when they indulge in hate speech or attacks against other communities? I'm not here to spread hatred. i'm really fortunate and thank almighty for the friends i have who belongs to different communities. anyways, i hope for the better days in my place.

We need to condemn such uncivilized violence. Mangalore-Udupi has become infamous for such acts committed by narrow minded radical crooks. At the same time i must remind our public that the root cause for such mess was BJP backed Banjrangis, HJV, Ram Senas, Footpath Sena, Bus stand sena, park senas etc. etc. who went around attacking Churches, Mosques, Business Establishments,Students, Innocent people, women and the people of Coastal region have had enough of this nuisance.

Therefore we need to go to the root of the problem and get rid of this government who has supported such cruel, uncivilized and brutal actions against its own law abiding cictizens.

This incident looks like a pre planned attack. The students were talking to each other in a public bus, not in a lonely place nor they were misbehaving with any girl. This incident should be condemned and the attackers should be punished severely including the person who sent wrong signals to the local goons for the attack. Leave these innocent students out from all dirty religious politics. The police must take stringent action against these local goons, inquiry will bring out more illegal activities like drug peddling, robberies etc etc.

Even though I belong to Minor community I don't see any difference between these so called moral police irrespective of religion...And I want ask those culprits, What you going to prove by doing this, by doing these kind of mischief's, Do you think you can straighten someone...???Neverrrr, You are Just fools...RESPECT SHOULD BE EARNED BY YOUR DEEDS....

Every person involved in moral policing should be brought under trial for proper punishment. It is also a hypocrisy these groups are showing. What about others whom these groups, protesting now, dealt with the same way.
Wake up all such organizations. Irrespective of caste or gender, realize one thing that you are all puppets of dirty politicians, and you will gain nothing for all this.

We all say we are brothers and sisters. Whats wrong if a boy abd girl of different community that too being students talk in public places. Who has given powers to these scalled youths to attack the innocent guys. If this is the case then why ceducation should be there. Girls and boys and various cast and creed attend the school and colleges/instituitions and they have to move about and talk each other. So such kind of highandedness and moral policing activities should be curbed and attackers be identified and punished.

Boss, nothing is wrong with girls and boys talking. But try and understand, that these bajrangi guys beat up other youth for speaking to each other (inter community) all year round.

So nothing wrong in giving these goons , a little taste of their own medicine.

No BOSS, Anand please do not make any conclusions yet. Srinath & Rajesh could be from that silent majority hindus who never supported acts of BD & SRS. Why do you conclude all hindus including this Rajesh & Srinath are goons of BD & SRS? What do you mean taste of their own medicine? what if somebody beats you for silly reason like this? J.F.D'SOUZA, ATTAVAR,MANGALORE is right. Time to join hands against moral policing of all religions Please remember, there is a bigger population of Hindus supporting congress more than the other religion population combined together. Not all Hindus support BD and all supporters of BD are not goons. It is not true also that all goons belong to BD. Goons are in all religions and in good numbers.

Nothing will change in our place. With the change is ruling party only the outfits have exchanged masks now. Its the other way round now. This time it will not be called Moral policing, but defending the honour of minorites. Ruling party changed you see, nobody will have problem now especially the pseudo-seculars.

Whoever indulged in this rowdy incident should be arrested. But the the organisation which is supporting victims in this particular incident has double standard as whenever vice versa takes place they are the culprits.MORAL POLICING IS THE CREATION OF BJP PARTY TO GARNER VOTE BANK POLITICS AND POLARIZE SOCIETY BASED ON COMMUNITY/CASTE/FOLKS etc. There may be a plan of some vested interest and entity to create vote bank/Law and order problem ahead of Assembly election as result of ULB election gone against certain party very badly.
