Udupi: Dr A Sundara to be conferred Dr Paduru Gururaj Bhat memorial award

Udupi, Mar 16: The prestigious award instituted under the name of prominent historian, researcher late Dr Paduru Gurraj Bhat will be conferred to India’s prominent archaeologist and researcher Dr A Sundara.

The award for the year 2011 was conferred on February 11 to sociologist Dr M Jayaram. The award was presented by the governor Hamsaraj Bharadwaj.

For the year 2012, in order to select suitable person for the award, a selection committee was formed. The selection jury consisted of prominent persons like economists, prime minister’s economic advisor Marpalli Govindrao, ISAC Bangalore director, economists Dr RS Deshpande and prominent historian from coastal district Dr KG Vasantha Madhava.

As per their recommendation, the award trust has decided to confer the award to Dr A Sundara.

The award ceremony will be held at MGM College, Udupi on April 13 at 5 pm.

    I really congratulate the committee for ing the right person.Dr.Sundara fully deserves the award,that too given in the name of Dr.P.Gururaja Bhat.
