M'lore: CM inaugurates Tertiary Treatment Plant at SEZ

Mangalore, Mar 18: The 22.5 million litres per day capacity Tertiary Treatment Plant constructed by Mangalore SEZ Ltd, was formally inaugurated by chief minister Jagadish Shettar here on Monday March 18.

The plant will treat the secondary treated effluent of sewage treatment plant of Mangalore City Corporation. This is the only one such large scale plant in India.

Tertiary Treatment Plant will give treated effluent of suitable quality for Industrial use. The treated effluent of Tertiary Treatment Plant is for Industrial use in MRPL and the units of MSEZL. The plant is under trial run and commissioning.

Tertiary Treatment Plant is an automated plant with Moving Bed Bio Reactor, Claritube Flocculator, GE Membrane Ultra Filtration, Chlorine Dioxide Treatment and Treated Effluent Storage. The plant has been built by MSEZL at a cost of approximately Rs 18 crore. It has back up power by Diesel Generator and Sludge Handling System.
