Media Release

Mangalore, Mar 20:
Old students of the Class of ’69 (students who were in the 1st standard in the year 1969) of St Aloysius High School today donated a pure drinking water facility at their Alma Mater. The installation consists of Ultra Violet water purification system to purify 600 Ltrs per hour. The water is stored in 2 water tanks of 600 Ltr capacity each and dispensed through 5 taps in each tank. The project cost of Rs 1 Lakh came from 20 class mates from “Class of ‘69”. The project was initiated by Ranganath C Kini and completed by Sumith S Rao with the help of the classmates of “Class of ‘69".

A group of classmates comprising Sumith S Rao, Ranganath C Kini, Ivan Fernandes, Vidyadar Nagvekar and Sunil Bhandary formally handed over the installation to the school headmaster Fr Edward Rodrigues in the presence of teachers and students on Wednesday March 20.

In an act of grace, and also so that the present students would be touched and inspired to contribute to their school after they are well settled in life, the old students gave the privilege of inaugurating the installation to Sushit Kumar, student of class VIII.

Class of ’69 started meeting each other during the year 1998 nearly 30 years after they joined school. They have been meeting regularly year after year during the 1st week of January.

The objective of donating this water tank was to give back something to their alma mater St. Aloysius High School which molded their minds and enabled them to achieve success in life. This group of old students has decided to constantly do something for their school on a yearly basis to their school and this is just a beginning. Inspired by these school mates, today seven other batches of St.Aloysius High School have started meeting each other.

Nice to see something concrete given back to our dear alma mater.

Hope that the group thinks of other projects which the school may be in need of.

All of the classmates are well placed in life and would not hesitate in contributing for a worthy cause in the school.

Hope the other batches take up similar or even better causes for the upliftment of the school.

    God Bless you guys...
