Bhatkal: Seven students, cook suffer electric shock

Bhatkal, Mar 26: Students of Mundeli Government School were injured after they suffered electric shock in a freak accident here on Tuesday March 26.

The injured have been identified as Sushma (class 7), Salman (class 4), Namrutha (class 7), Shwetha (class 2), Amrutha (class 3), Mithun (class 2), Namitha (class 3) and school cook Yamuna Naik.

The incident took place when Yamuna was trying to remove a rope which had fallen into the school well with a rod. The well was covered with iron mesh. As she tried to remove the rope, the upper part of the rod came into contact with the electric wire and the seven children who were standing around the well suffered electric shock.

All were taken to Bhatkal Government hospital.

PSI Naveen Jogi along with his team visited the spot and hospital.

A case has been registered in the rural police station
