It is said that in order to avoid hitting a vehicle approaching from Gandhi Maidan direction on the national highway, Rama took a left turn and collided with a lorry (KA-25-C-7193) which was parked on the left side of the highway. There was no parking light on the lorry.

It is learnt that Revathi sustained serious injuries on the head and neck. The accident occurred at around 2.20 am when they were coming from Vadera hobli in the police jeep.

They have been admitted to Chinmayi hospital.

I have to term all the comments made are by fools. You Just see how many vehicles have parking lights or reflectors on their vehicles. The RTO should wake up and check all the vehicles. What can we ecpect from these corrupt officials

Dear Mr.Siva In dubai every driver is trained and 90% aware of traffic rules,How many drivers are going through driving training in India, They only know what is steering /brake/accelerator.I am sure The police is only holding driving licence If you dig she may not have even seen the driving school door.I drive in Dubai/USA/canada /UK and in India,
But Indian driving and the roads!! Footpaths are free hold housing for poors.NH17 is not developed at all only bombay poona road upto hubali is good and rest all roads are dangerous,It is drivers duty to drivr carefully/Read last para in original message he turned and rammed at parked truck. he was not prepared for that.Look waht is deffenssive driving and learn more.I am authority to issue licence in this country and I talk only law. Do you know parking on highways restricted in all contrys.Only designated lay by to be used.

Lorry was paarked on the side and What parking light police was talking about? Was the police driving without lights? Its clear case police failed to see the parked lorry and rammed into it from back. Untrained police please check if she is having driving licence and was it in her position when she crashed? The lorry was at no fault....

dear smith, do you drive in dubai ? park the vehicle on emirates road or abudhabi road without parking light. first thing is fine 600 aed plus 10 aed (knowledge fees) by RTA. Godforbidden you will not be there to pay fine. Any truck or any speeding vehicle will just ramp on your vehicle parked without light. appreciate the police officer using such khatara jeep , i am sure headlights may be such that high beam quality as low beam lights which anyways dont enable drivers see vehciles parked without lights

It is not Rama's fault... he try to avoid this insident. but the jeep was very old and uncondition. when he try to aply the break, not breaked... what can he do... and another thing is why the department of police to provide the good condition vehicles for night rounds... and also the police men doing over time duties. and also the incident was at 2.20 pm at early morning!

Parking by the road side without parking lights is a crime. Many vehicles even in Mumbai drive without any rear lights even on express highway during night time. This results in many fatal accidents. Only in India we allow such mad things but go after things like very light shade of film.

Well, we cannot expect all vehicles parked by the side of the road in the night to have their park lights on. However, if one closely observes PIC 7, 8 the reflectors(white & red) are visible in the day as well. In Pic 7, the white reflector can been seen reflecting the sun rays or the cameras' flash light.
