Kannada Geleyara Balaga celebrates 'Vana Bhojana'

Dubai, Apr 5: Kannada Geleyara Balaga, a newly formed association comprising of various like minded Kannadigas residing in UAE had recently conducted 'Kalba Pravasa' being their first ever programme and later conducted successful blood donation campaign at Sheikha Latifa Hospital wherein large number of Kannadigas came over to donate blood for a good cause.

After the success of these two programmes, Kannada Geleyara Balaga organized a ‘Vana Bhojana 2013’ at Zabeel Park, here wherein huge number of Kannadiga families with children joined the function as a family get together. Though there were many other programmes on that particular day, nearly 250 Kannadigas assembled to witness their love and respect to the Balaga's activity.

Prashanth Raghavendra and Prema Negalur took over the programme as the main masters of ceremony while Satish Chakravarthy was busy with helping with the registration process for the members.  Main executive member, Natarajayya was looking on the overall programme performance.  The programme started with the audience savoring the sweet dates and juices supplied by Chilly Willy Trading as one of the sponsors.

Chief convenor Prashanth Raghavendra inaugurated the programme with his welcome address.  Soon dodge ball game was played with men and women which warmed up the audience for more sports activities. Later NG Basavaraj formed four teams viz, Kadamba, Rashtrakoota, Hoysala and Kithoor Chenamma and made the audience play team games.

The main attraction of the day was colouring competition for children below six years wherein lot of children enthusiastically participated in the colouring competition. Later 6 to 12 years children were asked to draw and colour some beautiful village scene of their choice. The games were conducted by Jyothirmayi and Prakash.

Kannada Geleyara Balaga's Members Umesh Narayan, Sanjeeva Bairagi, Denzil, Suresh, Suryanarayana, Ravi Kumar and Kiran later conducted the couple games competently. This continued spontaneously with many other games for men, women and children some of them with humour and fun.  Every sport had tough competitions and clear winners who received their prizes for the participation in sporting activity.

Around 2.30 pm when most of the people were tired and hungry a sumptuous lunch was served by Swadisht Restaurant, Karama the flavour of which surrounded the park immediately.  This was ably arranged by Basavaraj Salimat, Raghavendra Negalur, Thippeswamy and supported by Venu Ram, Basavaraj Jogappa, Kiran Kundapura, Nagaraj, Ramesh Babu, Suryanarayan, Ravikumar, Kiran and other members.

Post lunch was 'Rasa Prashne' with questions to the four groups as to see how much they know about Karnataka as a state.  Kadamba came out winners whereas Rashtrakoota were the second winner in this game.  This was followed by Anthakshari singing programme while Smitha and Shwetha rendered some beautiful numbers which was applauded greatly by the audience.

President Iranna Mulimani spoke and introduced Herman Lewis of Radio Spice 105.4 FM to all the members and committee executives who later spoke well on Balaga's activities and also distributed the prizes to the winners of the day's activities.

Kannada Geleyara Balaga released the 'logo' on this event and the formality was done by Tippu Sultan and Chandrashekar Sankole. The beautiful logo was designed by Srinivas Reddy who was applauded during the function.

After the evening tea and snacks the programme concluded with vote of thanks.
