Bahrain: KSC hosts Welcome Dance, Easter Celebrations

Media Release

Bahrain, Apr 8: The newly elected members of the executive committee for the term year 2013 of Karnataka Social Club, Bahrain, were introduced to the members at the Baan Saeng Thai Hotel Auditorium in Adliya, in a “Welcome Dance” dinner and Easter celebrations program with much fanfare.

The highlight of the Easter celebrations was the distribution of Easter Eggs to the members’ children and a cultural children’s dance and song program that brought out their talents with some filmy nostalgia.

In a well compered choc-o-bloc agenda, the program began at 8.30 pm with the master of ceremonies, the entertainment secretary, Bertie Rego welcoming the audience and inviting couples on the floor for the warm-up “Welcome Dance” session that was quickly followed by game for the little children.

In a crispy introduction of each of the executive committee member in the ascending order of their responsibilities, Richard Pais, made justice in giving their brief profile and caliber. The  president Herald Botelho, a veteran of nearly three decades and employed in a leading trading firm on the island,  is heading a team of experienced club administrators as well as few new faces that will certainly add more spice to the club’s leadership flavor. The new executive committee team, with a responsibility to carry on the cultural and social affairs of Club was presented to the audience with a warm round of applause.

The previous committee for the year 2012 under the presidentship of Maxim Sequeira was thanked for their dedicated services and the outgoing Committee members among them were given floral honours.

President Botelho then addressed the audience thanking them for the confidence restored in them and made a fervent plea to the members and their families to frequent the Club and make use of the facilities provided as well as the weekly weekend programs. The president introduced and invited the chief co-ordinator of the ladies wing Muriel Gomes to further introduce the assistant coordinators of the ladies wing, Padmini Lakhani and Sharmila Sequeira. The audience gave them all the applause they deserved as they take-off with their responsible assignments.

The members of the 2013 executive committee are:
President – Herald D Botelho
Vice president – Gustavo Furtado
General secretary –Sydney J Correa
Assistant general secretary – Gilbert Sequeira
Treasurer – Vincent D Sequeira
Assistant treasurer - Conald P Veigas
Entertainment secretary – Bertram Rego
Assistant entertainment secretary – Millard Rodrigues
Sports secretary – Leo D’Souza
Committee member – Cletus Rodrigues
Internal auditor – Suchitra Jathanna.

The floor was then left open for the teenagers show of talents in a brief cultural program.  Diya, Astrelle and Michelle as well as Ashlene and Breanna performed group filmy dances while Eunice D’Souza performed a solo dance number. The melodious voice of Adlene Alva captivated the hearts of the audience with a solo rendition of the filmy number “Made in India !”
Colorfully wrapped delicious Easter eggs were distributed to the members’ children below 12 years of age by the ladies wing coordinators. With MC Bertie Rego announcing a session of novelty dance, a game of lucky dip with attractive prizes was anchored by Maxim Sequeira and took extra time with many more houses to follow as more contributions in prizes followed suit.
DJ William rocked the evening with dicey numbers during the program for the dance sessions and kept the audience entertained with music during interludes.

With a brief prayer, a sumptuous buffet was everyone’s take-away. All was not over as there was more session of children’s dancing to follow to the beats of the DJ William. Concluding with the people choice of dancing to filmy masala numbers. Members made sure that they had an enjoyable evening with the committee members taking care of the entire requirement.
