Media Release

Mangalore, May 15: A Thanksgiving Mass was held on Wednesday May 15 at 7 am in Milagres Church to mark the 17th episcopal ordination anniversary of Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza.

Dr Pius D’Souza, Bishop of Ajmer, Msgr Denis Prabhu, vicar general, along with priests joined the concelebration.

Representatives from religious congregations and lay faithful in large numbers attended the Holy Mass.

A short felicitation programme was organized. The vicar general greeted the bishop on behalf of the diocese.

Bishop Aloysius recalled the day when he got the appointment letter from the Holy Father which was handed over to him by the late Bishop Basil S D’Souza. After receiving the appointment letter he declined saying that he may not be able to take up this great responsibility, for which Bishop Basil had said, “Let us work, let us suffer and let us die”.

The bishop further said, "I have worked and I have suffered, I prayed to God to give me the grace to complete the work which he wants me to do for the diocese."

The felicitation ceremony ended with the singing of the hymn for Our Lady “Thu kaljacha gondya moja”.
