M'lore: Kasaragod Chinna gets Rotary Vandana Award

Mangalore, May 18: The prestigious state level annual ‘Vandana Award’ instituted by Rotary Club of Mangalore Central jointly with Rotaract Club of Mangalore City as a part of their vocational service projects was conferred on renowned artist Kasaragod Chinna and to Mobility Training Centre for the Blind, here, at a function held on Friday May 17 at Rotary Bala Bhavan, here.

Chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation Dr Mohan Alva was the chief guest. He conferred the awards and delivered the felicitation address and congratulated the awardees on their excellent achievements in the field of literature and social service.

Replying to the felicitation Kasaragod Chinna expressed his gratitude and thanked the Rotary organization. Secretary of Mobility Training Centre for the Blind Surya Prakash Bhat revealed the training activities undertaken by the association for the blind and said that the contributions of Rotary to the mobility training centre is invaluable.  

District governor and chairman of awards committee Rtn Dr B Devdas Rai delivered the introductory address and revealed that Kasaragod Chinna has been conferred the award for his significant achievements in the field of art, culture and literature and Mobility Training Centre for the Blind for their very noble and invaluable services to the cause of visually impaired.

Assistant governor Rtn Sadashiv Shetty released the club’s weekly bulletin ‘Centor’.

Rotary president Rtn Dr Sureshchandra Shetty presided over the function.

District Rotaract representative Rtr Shailendra Rao, Rotary secretary Rtn Anil Gonsalves, Rotaract president Rtr Vikram Cutinha were present on this occasion.

Rotaract secretary Rtr Prasad proposed vote of thanks.
