Mangalore: Lady patient who defrauded hospital arrested

Mangalore, May 18: A woman, who got admitted into a private hospital in the city for certain beauty treatments there including plastic surgery, had fled the hospital without meeting her bill. The policemen have succeeded in arresting her.

The woman, who gave her name as Shama (32) from Puttur, had got herself admitted into the said hospital on April 20. On May 10, she succeeded in giving a slip to the hospital authorities, without paying her bill.

Kadri police station in the city received a complaint in this connection on May 15. The police personnel and hospital staff were on the lookout for her. She was found near the Town Hall in the city on Friday May 17. Upon producing her in a court, she was remanded to judicial custody.

The policemen have found that the age and address particulars given by the woman to the hospital were fake. During questioning, she evaded providing proper particulars, and gave unclear details, besides desisting from giving details about her family, the policemen said. They have guessed that she belongs to Kerala.
