B'lore: Clamour for chambers, pujas by ministers

Bangalore, May 20: A day after allotment of portfolios on Sunday night, the newly inducted ministers of the Siddaramaiah-led Congress regime made a beeline to Vidhana Soudha to occupy their office chambers on Monday.

Though the ministers, who took oath of office and secrecy on Saturday, had attended their first cabinet meeting and were administered a pep-talk by the chief minister, almost all the ministers had rushed to their native places and constituencies to receive warm welcome and congratulations from the people.

While some ministers visited the Vidhana Soudha and inspected chambers allotted to them, others assumed charge after conducting pujas.

The Vidhana Soudha wore a festive look with pujas going on in different chambers, allotted to the ministers and sweets being distributed to the visitors. The ministerial chambers were decked up with flower garlands and packed with the supporters of the ministers, partymen and visitors.

Water Resources Minister M B Patil, Housing Minister M H Ambareesh, Medical Education Minister Sharanaprakash R Patil, Youth Services and Fisheries Minister K Abhayachandra Jain,  Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy, Cooperation Minister H S Mahadeva Prasad, Home Minister K J George, Food and civil Supplies Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, Agriculture Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, Information and Infrastructure Development Minister Santosh S. Lad Primary and Secondary Education Minister Kimmane Ratnakar visited the Secretariat assumed charge of their portfolios.

Before holding meeting with officials, the ministers conducted pujas in their offices and distributed sweets to their supporters, officials and well-wishers.

The corridors of the Vidhana Soudha, which had been deserted since the election process began, were abuzz with activity.

In some of the chambers of the ministers, a large number of well-wishers stood in the queue with flower bouquets and garlands to wish new Ministers.

Urban Development Minister Vinayakumar Sorake, Women and Child Development and Kannada Culture minister Umashree visited the Secretariat and inspected chambers allotted to them.

    What do you have in your mind when you do puja to the chair. The best puja you can offer your chair is by not dirtying it, giving it respect by doing what you are supposed to do, don't try to stick on to it, don't creat a tunnel under the table or chair to collect that extra, keep the chair clean so that next occupant can use it as it is and not order a new one, in turn will also carry on the good deeds of yours from the same chair.
