M'lore: Summer camp on basics of linguistics inaugurated

Mangalore, May 21: A summer camp on the basics of linguistics was inaugurated here at the World Konkani Centre on Monday May 20, by renowned scholar, linguist and editor of Tulu lexicon, Dr U P Upadhyaya. 

The camp will go on for the next six days and almost 20 language enthusiasts are participating in this camp.

President of World Konkani Centre, Basti Vaman Shenoy presided over the function. Dr Varija N, Melvyn Rodrigues, Sahitya Akademi awardee, Dr K Mohan Pai were present during the occasion.

Gurudath Bantwalkar, assistant director, Konkani Language and Cultural Foundation welcomed the gathering and explained the objective behind this camp.

Dr Susheela Upadhyaya shared her experience of field work in language gathering during her association with Tulu Lexicon project.

Dr Rocky Miranda, Dr Madhavi Sardessai will join as resource persons during the course of the camp.
