Karkala: Bodies of missing lovers found in plantation

Karkala, May 23: Lifeless bodies of two persons, who were in love with each other, were found in Shirlalu village on Wednesday May 22. These lovers had gone missing two days back.

The bodies were recovered from the areca nut plantation of Kunjira Naik. The two youth, who committed suicide, have been identified as Dinesh (26), son of Kunjira Naik from Hadiyangady from Shirlalu village, and Shashikala (22), daughter of Sundar Naik, from the same village. Both of them reportedly went missing on May 20.

These bodies were found lying inside the plantation, when Dinesh’s mother went there for grazing her cows. The two are said to have committed suicide by consuming poison, as both the families were against this alliance.

Exact cause of death will be known once post mortem report is received. A case of unnatural death was registered in the local police station.
