Kundapur: Village accountant killed in highway accident

Kundapur, May 24: Sukumar Shetty (27), who was injured in an accident which occurred on national highway 66 at Movattumudi in Hemmady village near here on Wednesday May 22 night, breathed his last at Manipal Hospital on Thursday May 23. He was working as a village accountant.

The accident had occurred, when a mini bus that was reportedly moving at high speed towards Kundapur from the direction of Trasi, hit the motor bike Shetty was driving towards Trasi. While Shetty suffered grave injuries, the injuries suffered by his pillion rider, Jayalaxmi, were not that serious.

After providing preliminary care at a private hospital in Kundapur, Sukumar Shetty was shifted to Manipal Hospital. He did not respond to the treatments, it is learnt. Jayalaxmi continues to be treated at Chinmayi Hospital, Kundapur.

Sukumar Shetty was working as village accountant in Heroor gram panchayat near Brahmavar.  A case relating to the accident stands registered in Kundapur traffic police station.
