Mangalore: XAMI governing body meeting held at AIMIT

Mangalore, May 28:
The governing body members of Xavier Association of Management Institutes, India (XAMI) held the annual meeting at AIMIT campus of St Aloysius College, Mangalore on Sunday at 4 pm.

The meeting was chaired by Fr Abraham, the president of XAMI and director of XLRI, Jamshedpur. Fr Paul Fernandes, director of XIMB, Bhubaneswar, Prof Philip, chairman, XIME, Bangalore, Fr Alex Ekka, director, XISS, Ranchi, Fr Peter Xavier, director, LIBA, Chennai, Fr Santy D’Souza, Rector, St Joseph’s College, Bangalore, Sr Juanita director, Mount Carmel Institute of Management, Bangalore, Fr Ranjith Tigga, director, XIMJ, Fr Oswald Mascarenhas, chairman, MBA dept, AIMIT, Fr Pradeep Sequeira, administrator, AIMIT and Fr Denzil Lobo, director, AIMIT participated in the meeting.
 
The meeting began with a presentation by Fr Denzil Lobo on AIMIT B-school and the future plans for the growth of the Institute. He said that the Institute is gearing towards becoming one of the TOP twenty B-School in India. He also said that the Institute has the best of the facilities compared to any of the premier Institutions in India and has very good course structure and content with choice based credit system right from the first semester. He also mentioned that the Institute is recognized for research under Thumkur University.
 
Each of the members spoke about the various activities and challenges they face in managing B-Schools. Fr Paul Fernandes, director, XIMB informed the gathering that the Government of Orissa has approved the establishment of Jesuit University in Bhubaneswar and that it is going to be the first Jesuit Private University in India.

Fr Abraham, director, XLRI briefed the members on various issues pertaining to the PGDM programmes and the recent developments in connection with AICTE and the court rulings. Prof Philip said that XAMI Institutes should have some common programmes during the year. It was decided to have a special training programme in Finance for the faculty of all XAMI institutes at XLRI in the month of September.

AIMIT would host XAMI fest in February, 2014 and XIMJ, Jabalpur would organize a National Level Speech Contest in memory of Fr Bogart, pioneer in Management education in India. The meeting ended with dinner. The next meeting is scheduled to be in XIMB, Bhubaneswar in September 2013.
