Daijiworld Media Network – Beltangady (SP)

Beltangady, May 28: Local MLA, Vasant Bangera, expressed disappointment at not getting a ministerial berth. “Being a senior leader, I was eligible to be included in the state ministry. I am pained. But I will serve the people as before,” he said.

He was speaking at a programme organized on Sunday May 26 at Kinyamma Yane Gunavathi Amma auditorium here to thank the Congress activists for ensuring victory of the party, and to felicitate the newly elected MLA.

“The police and revenue departments, which worked as puppets in the hands of extra-constitutional authorities during the BJP regime, will be modified to fall in line with the law of the land. False cases hoisted against Congress workers will be withdrawn. A number of development works need to be undertaken in the taluk, and the people have high expectations from me. I will not disappoint them,” Bangera said.

A number of leaders who spoke on the occasion, expressed the view that Bangera should have been made a minister, considering his seniority and the contributions made by him to this constituency.

Block Congress Committee president, K Harish Kumar, pointed out that the Congress was able to get over 50 percent votes in this constituency. “This signifies the unequivocal faith the people of the constituency have on our party,” he added.
