Mangalore: Two youths arrested for looting tourists

Mangalore, May 29: Panambur police on Tuesday arrested two youths, who looted cash and ATM cards from tourists from Davangere who had been to the beach.

The arrested are identified as Rahul (23) from Haryana and Deepak (22) from Kerala. It is said that they were residing in their relative's house in Panambur.

As per the information obtained, Chiranjeevi from Davangere along with four of his friends had come to the beach and spent time playing till evening. Later, they slept in their car and at around 1 am, Rahul and Deepak came in their bike posing as police and warned them not to sleep there. They also demanded money from them.

It is said that they snatched Rs 5,000 in cash from the tourists, and saying that the money was not sufficient, took away their ATM cards and fled the place.

Suspecting their behavior, the tourists informed Panambur police about the incident. When the duo Rahul and Deepak returned to the beach later, they were arrested by the police.

Police seized Rs 5,000 cash from them and registered a case.
