Mangalore: Congress holds victory rally for Jain

Mangalore, May 30: Congress activists organized a victory rally at Mulky on Tuesday May 28 to celebrate fourth consecutive victory of Congress candidate, Abhaychandra Jain, from Mulky-Moodbidri constituency, and his elevation as the state minister for youth services and fisheries.

The procession started with the garlanding of the statue of freedom fighter, Karnad Sadashiva Rao, standing at Gandhi Maidan, Karnad near Mulky. The activists then took their leader in open jeep accompanied by other vehicles through Mulky, Padupanamboor, Sasihithlu, Halengady, Kemral, Kinnigoly, Balkuje, Kilpady, and other villages, raising slogans hailing their party and the minister.

Mulky block Congress president, Payyottu Sadashiva Salian, general secretary, Vasanth Bernard, Mulky town panchayat president, Shashikant Shetty, member, B M Asif, party leaders, Dhananjay Kotian, Mattu Nemiraj Jain, and others were present.

All along the route of the rally, people waited by the roadside to have a glimpse of the minister and his entourage, and to garland him.

After the rally reached Mulky, Congress activists felicitated minister, K Abhaychandra Jain.

At the function, Jain gave a call to the party activists not to rest till ensuring victory of party candidate, B Janardhana Poojary, in the coming Lok Sabha election. Speaking after accepting the felicitation from the party workers, he vowed to continue to be a sincere Congress activist and to serve the people irrespective of getting positions of power or not.

Jaya C Suvarna, president of Billawara Mahamandala, honoured the minister. Noted authority on folklore, Dr Ganesh Amin Sankamar, delivered the felicitation address.

On the occasion, the minister distributed freezer boxes on behalf of Mulky town panchayat to the fisherwomen.
