Nalin Kumar Kateel accuses CM of 'double standards'

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SM)

Udupi, May 31: BJP Mangalore MP Nalin Kumar Kateel on Thursday May 30 slammed chief minister Siddaramaiah and said that the government was showing double standards in banning gutka and proposing cheap liquor at the same time.

“Chief minister Siddaramaiah cannot take decisions without thinking about its consequences. On the one hand he says gutka will be banned and on the other hand the government is planning to introduce liquor at cheaper prices,” he said at a press meet held at the BJP office here on Thursday.

He added that Dakshina Kannada and Udupi are known for arecanut farming. “The chief minister should consider the livelihood of farmers who grow areca nuts. If Gutka is banned, the government should come up with alternative arrangements for these farmers,” added Kateel.

He also queried as to why the government is not banning tobacco items like ‘beedi’ and cigarette. “The chief minister should not take one-sided decisions,” he added.

Kateel appealed to the local MLA to show interest in protecting the Sri Krishna Temple. “Pramod Madhwaraj should make the government understand that bringing the Sri Krishna Temple under the religious endowment department or implementing cow slaughter will not benefit the Congress government,” added Kateel.

“The new government is very interested in taking decisions effecting the farmers and hurting religious sentiments,” he said.

Is it laughable or rich will lose their share of big business. Is it not by banning cheap brew poor people are hard pressed from the highly priced liquor.Rich people and wine shop people paid big money to get licences and now if Siddu introduces cheap brew it is painful for rich vendors and specially the wine shops are owned by politicians relatives.
Gutka is another thing .Give them alternative to areca planting to other rich cash rich crops

NKK never spoke anything during Drama Party rule. The NKK never think of poor people who spent entire day’s earnings on the booze. The NKK never mobilize his so called moral police jawans to motivate people to stop consuming alchohol. The NKK team never showed interest in the so many woman morchas in the state against sale of alcohol in some areas where the labor class spent entire earnings and dependants suffered. Now this NKK is all of a sudden stand up and create some noice. He had no guts to face MLA election and reach the assembly to create opposition in the assembly sessions.I doubt he will lose his deposits if he contest in Mangalore in the next LS elections.

I have seen the U Tube where once he has spoken in the Parliament in Kannada language.Refernce was regarding demand for inclusion of Tulu language in 8th schedule of the Constitution. It appears he never spoken before or after that leave aside asking questions.
He has commandd only on two languages ie., Tulu and Kannada. Therefore he can not discharge properly his MP duties/present matters effectively/discuss issues at Dehli. This is the truth.
Fault is his but those who proposed him for MP(KPB) and we voters who elected him rejecting a senior, well educated, experienced, noble hearted, non corrupt person Mr.Janardhana Poojary.Party issue comes before the person in elections nothing withstanding whether he is ideal candidate for MP or not. What we saw,so we reap.So people of Manglore/DK atleast see the present style of our Honourable MP and take necessary step to field an efficient candidate at least in the new general electtion be it from BJP or Congress or otherwise.
We should learn from people like UT Khader,JR Lobo ,JP Hegde Udupi MP etc.It is a forgobe conclusion that if Sri Janardhana Poojary is fielded from Mangalore in next LS election he will win with huge margin even if BJP/SDPI /allied parties makes earth and sky one.Till then we must toleratee our present MP and no other way....

Well Siddanna is not like you right from day 1 of him assuming the office he is giving many progessive schemes to the people and not like you waking after 4 years( Every1 knows the reason behind this).

Secondly when you became an MLA/ leader of Opposition as you must concerntrate on central affairs and not of the state.....

Its surprising to see Mr. Nalin Kumar has started giving some statements almost after 4 years since he became an MP of Mangalore . The People of Mangalore needs an MP who is active and shares common man.s problems and try to solve them .Also trying to get some big industries so that the jobless people get employment. I dont think the People of Mangalore will Re Elect him in the 2014 election.
