Udupi: Thieves break into house; decamp with cash, valuables

Udupi, Jun 1: Thieves broke into a house at Salmara near Shakarapura and decamped with cash and valuables. The theft came to light on Friday May 31.

Padmanabha Bhat and his wife Meera left their home to attend the house warming occasion of their relative in Bangalore. The theft came to light after they returned home from Bangalore on Friday morning.

The thieves are thought to have gained entry by breaking open the lock on the kitchen door.

The thieves stole Rs 85,000 in cash by leaving behind artificial gold ornaments and coins in the cupboard. 

Kaup circle inspector Shivananda Walekar, Shirva police inspector K R Nayak, Kaup police station crime inspector Rajendra Nayak, finger print department’s Harishchandra, and the canine squad were pressed into action.

A case has been filed at Shirva police station and the investigation is on.
