Kasargod: Airport staff involved in gold smuggling?

Daijiworld Media Network – Kasargod (SP)

Kasargod, Jun 1: Officials of the directorate of revenue intelligence (DRI) under the department of customs have arrested Shabbir from Koduvalli Valamkote, and T Moosakutty (30),  working as manager for Air Arabia, on the allegation of smuggling gold to Kasargod through Kozhikode airport.

DRI has found that huge quantities of gold are being brought into Kerala through international airports. The officials have expressed the suspicion about the likely involvement of airport officials in this activity. They said they have succeeded in eliciting important information during the interrogation of the arrested persons.

The officials claim that Koduvalli gold smuggling racket has spread its wings all over Kerala including Kasargod. Carriers are being used by the racket for bringing gold from abroad, and through them, gold is being supplied to gangs involved with running of gold smuggling rackets in the state and elsewhere, they say.
