M'lore: St Aloysius school begins academic year on 'high' note

Mangalore, Jun 1: St Aloysius High School reopened on May 31. The new rector of St. Aloysius Institutions, Fr  Denzil Lobo SJ and the headmaster Fr Edward Rodrigues  presided over the programme. 

Rector Fr Denzil began his inaugural address by invoking God’s blessings through a Bhajan.  He told the students to work hard with dedication, determination and discipline throughout the academic year.  He also gave some examples of some old students like Arvind Adiga. K V Kamath, Didhith Rai and others who reached greater heights by following these values.

The staff, students and the management paid homage to the beloved teacher Leo Fernandes who went to his heavenly abode on May 13. Leo had served this institution for 33 years by winning the hearts of all the students.

Francis Mascarenhas, the senior staff gave condolences by saying that he was a man of simplicity, generosity, service and discipline.  The whole assembly paid respects to the departed teacher by observing a minute of silence.

The assistant headmaster Gopala Krishna Bhat gave instructions to the students, regarding rules and regulations of the school.  The headmaster Fr Edward Rodrigues wished them all success in the academic year and appealed them to give their best in all the activities of the school.  He also congratulated the teaching staff who worked hard to bring good results (96%).  He also congratulated the whole SSLC batch.  He thanked all the parents and well wishes for their support and encouragement during the past year.

The assembly was concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.

    Dear Fr. Edward, Nice to see the start of the new academic year with such a nice function. Nice to see our new rector Fr. Denzil with the High school students. I wish the school and all the very best for the year to come and for the future as well
