Udupi, Jun 6: The waste which was spreading a foul smell across Brahmavar town over the past several days was finally cleaned by Chantaru Gram Panchayat.

The liquid and solid waste that was collected in the gutters on either side of the road from the fish market to the Special Tahasildar’s office was cleaned on Wednesday June 5. The waste was shifted to a faraway place with the help of a JCB and Tempo van.

The locals are lauding the special drive carried out by the panchayat before the monsoon starts. The waste from various other places across the town was also cleared off by the panchayat.

“Parking facility on either side of Brahmavar Old Police Station road will be provided by marking spots with stones in association with private funding,” said Ravi Raj Shetty, president, Chantaru Gram Panchayat.

The panchayat development officers have urged the public not to litter around the gutters and roadside so as to avoid any inconvenience in the coming days.
