Udupi: Electrician tries to kill woman, rob ornaments

Udupi, Jun 29: The policemen of the town police station here have succeeded in arresting an electrician who reportedly tried to kill a woman at her home and rob her gold ornaments and cash. The arrested accused has been identified as Girish. He was taken into custody from near Ambalpady in the town on Friday June 28 evening.

In a complaint lodged in the police station, Prabhamani Shetty, wife of Ramanna Shetty living in Kadabettu Ramanna Shetty compound said that Girish had visited her home in the company of a contractor from Kadekar to attending to some electrical works a week back. 

“On Friday June 28 morning, Girish came to my house with a wire in his hand at around 11 am. He said he had lost his sim card while working in my house, and asked for a ladder to reach the roof. I brought the ladder. When I questioned the purpose of holding a wire, he said he wanted to kill me and rob gold ornaments and cash found in the house. Thereafter, he immediately started o tighten the wire around my neck. I  shouted for help instantly, at which a neighbor named Sulochana and Sudha, who has rented our first floor, came running. Seeing them, Girish threw away the wire and ran away through the front door,” Prabhamani said in her complaint.
