Udupi: Forest ranger gets stuck between buses, loses life

Udupi, Jul 1: A forest department official was killed on account of negligence on the part of a private bus driver at Thirthahalli bus stand in Shimoga district on Sunday June 30 evening. The deceased has been identified as K R Vishwanath (37) from Hassan, who was working as a ranger in the district forest department.

In the above incident, Vishwanath suffered severe injuries. He died while being taken to a hospital for treatment.

Vishwanath, who was working till two weeks back at Thirthahalli, had been promoted as ranger and posted to the department’s vigilance cell at Udupi. He was speaking to the driver of a mini bus which had arrived from Udupi at Thirthahalli bus stand, when the driver of a private bus parked nearby suddenly moved his bus ahead. Vishwanath got stuck between the two buses, and got crushed in the accident. He was in a critical condition, and died while being taken to Manipal for hospitalization.

A case in this respect was registered in Thirthahalli police station.
