Sullia: Forest mobile squad finds civet cats, arrests man

Sullia, Jul 2: The policemen of forest mobile squad released two civet cats held captive in a netted enclosure in a house in the taluk on Monday July 1.

The raid was conducted, after the personnel of the squad were tipped off about the fact that civet cats had been held in captivity at the home of Kochchimane Bhojappa Gowda of Markanja village in the taluk.  The squad took the cats away.

The policemen have registered a case under Wildlife Protection Act. The accused, Bhojappa; Gowda (50), was arrested and produced in a court.

Sub-inspector of the squad, Umesh Uppalike, and some other personnel had taken part in the raid.
