Mangalore, Jul 5: “Newspapers help to build culture and social lives for future generations. The print medium will never become extinct, and it will survive in the form of the internet media (digital media). A journalist is a litterateur who writes in a hurry. The journalist should stay away from caste and politics. In this stressful life, there is always value for sincerity,” said K L Kundanthaya, veteran columnist and folk researcher.

He was presenting a talk on ‘Media-Then, Now’ after receiving a special felicitation during ‘Press Day’ organized by Mulky Regional Journalists’ Association in Punarooru Tourist Home.

“Journalists in a hurry of breaking news should not exaggerate news; instead, they should report the news with social concern. Hence, in this way, the hygiene of society can be protected.  Advertisement is the main mission of the present media, the news of rural areas is restricted only to regional areas and the fairness of news has been reduced”, he said.

Harikrishna Punarooru inaugurated the programme.
