Kundapur: Shop dealing in mobile phones gutted

Kundapur, Jul 8: A shop dealing in cell phones located in a shopping complex on Bypass Road in Byndoor caught fire presumably due to electric short circuit on Sunday July 7 morning. The shop belongs to a person named Guruprasad.

In the fire, a laptop, two computers, a number of new cell phones and several  other phones given by customers for repairs, were burnt down. As per an estimate, the loss due to this fire has been to the tune of about eight lac rupees.

The owner of the said complex, who lives in a house located behind the building, smelt smoke at around 2.30 am on Sunday, and found that smoke was billowing out of the ventilator of the building. He immediately alerted others, and got involved with the task of dousing the flames. If the fire had spread, other shops including the adjacent television shop would have been reduced to ashes.

The locals succeeded in extinguishing fire. A report in this connection as registered in Byndoor police station.
