Bantwal: Car falls into gorge – one dead, another injured

Bantwal, Jul 8: After a car jumped off the edge of the road into a gorge by its side on Saturday July 6 at Budoli near Mani in the taluk, both the driver and the other occupant in the car were critically injured. The driver however, breathed his last at a hospital in Mangalore on Sunday.

Chidanand (26), and his younger brother, Deekshit (24), children of Chandrahas from Shasta in Manjeshwar were travelling in the car. Both were employed in Bangalore, but were proceedings towards Manjeshwar for participating in the election process there.

Chidanand was reportedly driving the car. When the car was passing through Budoli, a cow crossed its path all of a sudden. The driver, who tried to avoid hitting the animal, swerved the car, which veered to the edge of the road and jumped into a 20 feet deep gorge. Some locals who saw them, arranged for admitting both of them in a hospital at Mangalore.

A case was registered in Vittal police station in this respect.
